Cloves
Cloves are called Laung in Hindi. Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are the largest producers in India. Cloves are very popular in Indian cuisine and while grown in the south, are common in North Indian cooking. Cloves are also a part of most regional “garam masalas.” Typically, you will find them used ground along with other spices. Cloves are also commonly found in various tea blends. Cloves may be used to give aromatic and flavour qualities to hot beverages, often combined with other ingredients such as lemon and sugar. Cloves have a warm, sweet and aromatic taste that evokes the sultry tropical climates where they are grown.
